Swatch Skiers Cup Highlights: Backflipping Avalanches
The Swatch Skiers Cup is back for its third year, being hosted by Zermatt, Switzerland. The event kicked off with the Big Mountain portion yesterday. The Europeans made good use of their home terrain winning 9 of 13 runs. I am very interested to see how team Americas fares going forward this week in the Backcountry Slopestyle event. I am really interested to see guys like Rory Bushfield and Marcus Eder in this next event. Also interested to see how Logan Imlach, known more for his urban skiing, attacks this venue. Enjoy the videos below.
Day 1 Highlights: Athletes arrive
Day 2 Highlights: Team Europe wins the Big Mountain comp; Sverre Liliequist throws a massive backflip as an avy is barreling down behind him (2:00 mark).
Day 3 Highlights: more highlights and recap from day 2
Here's Team Americas Captain and one of the best skiers out there, Cody Townsend, stomping his first run, slightly over-rotating on the backflip but stomped a vintage spread eagle coming into the finish. Nice run Cody!
